About
About the Rolex Oysterdate
Oysterdate is a vintage Rolex line from the 1950s–70s, sold as a more affordable alternative to the Datejust: a date window and Cyclops lens on a smaller period-correct case, typically 34mm, without the fluted bezel or Jubilee bracelet Rolex reserved for its senior model. Movements were the manual-wind or early automatic 'Precision' calibers of the era rather than Rolex's later high-beat automatics, and dials and bezels were offered in a similar range of steel and two-tone finishes to the contemporary Datejust. Because production ended decades ago, every Oysterdate on the pre-owned market is a genuine vintage piece rather than a current model, and condition, dial originality, and service history matter more here than on any current Rolex line. References most searched for include the 6694 and 6466.
We disclose condition plainly: mint, excellent, good or fair, whether it ships with the original box and papers or full set, and any service history we know about. An Oysterdate without its papers isn't necessarily a concern — most vintage pieces trade without a full set — but we tell you exactly what documentation comes with the specific watch you're looking at before you buy.
Our Rolex models guide covers how the Oysterdate fits into the rest of the Rolex catalog. Call or message us to order. We ship the watch to you, or you can collect it at our Snellville showroom. Payment is by wire transfer, in full, before we order the watch.
