Ring Resizing Cost in Atlanta
At ATL Luxury Jewelers, ring resizing starts at $40, with the final price set by the metal, how many sizes you’re moving, and whether the band has stones or detailing. All work is done in-house at our Snellville workshop near Atlanta — never shipped out — and same-day service is available for many simple jobs. Every resize gets a free, exact estimate before we begin.
What drives the price
“Ring resizing” covers a wide range of jobs, so the cost varies with four things:
- Metal. Sterling silver and gold are quickest and least expensive; platinum needs specialized equipment and costs more.
- Direction and amount. Sizing down is usually cheaper than sizing up, and large jumps cost more because they require adding metal.
- Stones and detailing. A plain band is simple; channel-set, pavé, or full-eternity bands take more care and sometimes a different technique.
- Finishing. Most resizes include a polish; rhodium re-plating on white gold is an add-on if you want the brightest finish.
Sizing up vs. sizing down
Going down a size means cutting out a small section of the band and soldering the ends back together — efficient and low-cost. Going up means stretching the band (for small adjustments) or cutting it and soldering in a new piece of matching metal (for larger ones), which uses more material and labor. That’s why sizing up generally costs a bit more, and why a jump of several sizes is priced above a single-size tweak.
When a ring can’t be sized the usual way
A few rings need special handling. A full eternity band with stones all the way around often can’t be cut and rejoined without disturbing the setting — options are sizing beads, a spring insert, or a remake. Tension settings and certain titanium/tungsten bands can’t be sized at all and must be replaced. We’ll tell you honestly which category your ring is in before any work starts.
Timeframe and how to start
Most resizes are ready in 3–7 business days, and many simple gold sizings can be done same-day — just ask when you drop off. Platinum and stone-heavy work take longer. If a loose stone is the real issue, see prong re-tipping and stone setting too.
