Quick Answer
What is August’s birthstone?
August’s birthstone is peridot. Vibrant olive-green peridot — August's birthstone — has been worn from ancient Egypt to modern luxury. Hand-set into rings, pendants, and earrings at our Snellville atelier.
About Peridot — the August Birthstone
Peridot is the gem variety of forsterite-olivine — August’s traditional birthstone — and one of the few gems that occurs in only a single color: green. Saturation ranges from pale yellow-green to rich olive, with the most prized stones showing pure grass-green with no brown overtone. Peridot sits at 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale — durable enough for daily pendants and earrings; protective settings recommended for rings.
ATL Luxury Jewelers stocks peridot across pendants, stud and drop earrings, solitaire and halo rings, and bracelets set in 14K and 18K gold. Peridot is virtually never treated — what you see is what nature produced, making it one of the most honest colored stones in the trade.
Peridot pairs richly with yellow gold — the warm metal harmonizes with the green saturation — and reads modern in white gold. The historical legend is real: peridot was mined on the Egyptian island of Zabargad as early as 1500 BCE and was likely the green stone Cleopatra prized.
Why buy peridot from ATL Luxury Jewelers?
For over 15 years, ATL Luxury Jewelers has sourced natural peridot at our Snellville, GA showroom. We select for pure grass-green saturation and high clarity, passing over the pale yellow-green material that floods most birthstone counters.
Every peridot piece includes lifetime cleaning, prong-tightening, and rhodium-plating (for white gold) at no charge — a policy we’ve held since 2009.
