Emerald Jewelry — Natural, Handcrafted in Atlanta
Emerald is the rich green variety of beryl — the same mineral family as aquamarine — graded by both color saturation and clarity. The finest emeralds show vivid pure green with no secondary yellow or blue, the look historically associated with the Roman trade. Emerald sits at 7.5–8 on the Mohs scale, hard enough for jewelry but brittle, so protective settings matter.
ATL Luxury Jewelers stocks emerald across halo pendants, stud and drop earrings, solitaire and three-stone rings, and tennis-style bracelets set in 18K gold and platinum. Most natural emeralds are oiled or treated with clear resin to improve apparent clarity — standard and disclosed; untreated emeralds with strong color command significant premiums.
Top emerald provenance is Colombian (Muzo, Chivor) for the classic vivid green color. Zambian emeralds offer excellent clarity at better value, often with a slightly bluish-green cast that many buyers prefer.

Emerald Pricing, Origin & Treatment
- 1ct emerald ring: $1,500–$8,000
- 2ct emerald: $5,000–$25,000
- Top Colombian Muzo (untreated): $50,000+ per carat
Most natural emeralds are oil-treated (standard, disclosed). Untreated emeralds with strong color command 5–10x premiums.

Emerald Settings & Care — Protection Matters
Emerald is Mohs 7.5–8 but brittle — setting choice matters more than for any other major gem.
- Recommended for rings: bezel, halo with corner prongs, three-stone with flanking diamond buffers, emerald-cut V-prongs
- Avoid for rings: shared-prong, channel-set, low-profile exposed settings
- Pendants & earrings: setting constraints relax significantly
Care: warm soapy water only. Never ultrasonic or steam (damages oil treatment). Re-oiling free at our showroom for emeralds purchased from us.
