Diamond Tennis Necklaces & Riviera Necklaces in Atlanta
A diamond tennis necklace is one of the most-recognized statement pieces in fine jewelry — a continuous ribbon of light around the collarbone that reads as a single unified piece rather than a collection of stones. At ATL Luxury Jewelers in Atlanta, every tennis necklace is hand-set by a single artisan in our Snellville atelier, ensuring consistent prong tension across all 50+ stones — the detail that separates a $10,000 tennis necklace from a $25,000 one.
Our tennis necklace inventory covers the most-bought total carat weights: 3 carat (everyday daily wear), 5 carat (gift size — anniversary, push present), 7 carat (milestone — 25th anniversary, 50th birthday), 10 carat (statement piece), and 15 carat+ (heirloom). Available in platinum, 14K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, and 18K gold. Both uniform tennis necklaces (identical diamond size throughout) and graduated riviera necklaces (larger center diamonds, smaller toward the clasp) are stocked. Lab-grown diamond tennis necklaces available at 50–70% of natural diamond pricing.
Tennis necklaces are typically given as anniversary, 50th-birthday, retirement, and major milestone gifts. They’re also one of the most resale-resistant categories in fine jewelry — the diamonds can be re-set into other pieces and the metal recovered. See also our matching tennis bracelets.
Why ATL Luxury Jewelers for Your Tennis Necklace
For over 15 years, ATL Luxury Jewelers has handcrafted bespoke tennis necklaces at our Snellville, GA showroom. Every diamond is GIA-graded; we source matched runs of stones (within one grade of color, clarity, and cut) so the necklace reads visually uniform. Hand-setting takes 18–25 hours per necklace — we don’t use mass-production prong machines that produce variable tension.
Every tennis necklace includes lifetime cleaning, full prong-tightening, rhodium-plating (for white gold), and clasp repair. We do not charge for any of these services on tennis necklaces purchased from us — a policy we’ve maintained since 2009.
Tennis Necklaces by Carat — 3ct, 5ct, 7ct, 10ct, 15ct

Total carat weight is the primary driver of a tennis necklace’s visual impact and price. Common sizing benchmarks:
- 3 carat tennis necklace — entry-level, daily-wear delicate. Each diamond ~0.04–0.05ct. Natural: $4,500–$10,000. Lab-grown: $2,200–$5,000.
- 5 carat tennis necklace — most popular gift size. Each diamond ~0.07–0.08ct. Natural: $8,000–$18,000. Lab-grown: $4,000–$8,500.
- 7 carat tennis necklace — milestone gift size. Each diamond ~0.10ct. Natural: $14,000–$30,000. Lab-grown: $7,500–$14,000.
- 10 carat tennis necklace — statement piece. Each diamond ~0.14–0.16ct. Natural: $25,000–$55,000. Lab-grown: $12,000–$25,000.
- 15 carat tennis necklace — heirloom-tier. Each diamond ~0.21–0.25ct. Natural: $50,000–$120,000+. Lab-grown: $25,000–$55,000.
All carat weights available in both natural and lab-grown diamonds. Lab-grown tennis necklaces are real diamonds (IGI or GIA certified) at 50–70% lower cost — many clients use the savings to invest in larger total carat weight or upgrade to platinum metal.
Riviera Necklaces & Graduated Tennis Necklaces
A riviera necklace (or graduated tennis necklace) uses progressively larger diamonds toward the front center and smaller stones toward the clasp at the back of the neck. The visual effect is a single “focal diamond” appearance from the front rather than the uniform-band look of a standard tennis necklace. Riviera diamond necklaces were popularized in the 1920s and read more traditional / vintage than uniform tennis.
Graduated styles are typically 7ct+ total weight to make the gradation visible — at lower weights, the difference between center and end stones is too small to read. We carry both styles at our Atlanta showroom, with custom build options for either configuration.
Tennis Necklaces by Metal — Platinum, 14k White Gold, 14k Yellow Gold, 14k Rose Gold, 18k Gold
Metal choice for a tennis necklace is structural, not just aesthetic — the metal supports 50+ prongs across decades of wear. Platinum tennis necklaces are the most durable (the gold standard — the hard metal protects prongs indefinitely). 14K white gold tennis necklaces are the most popular (~55% of sales — durable for daily wear, 30–40% lower cost than platinum, rhodium-plated for a bright finish). 14K yellow gold tennis necklaces create a warm vintage aesthetic and let diamonds pop against the metal. 14K rose gold tennis necklaces are romantic and modern. 18K gold tennis necklaces offer richer color saturation but the softer alloy can deform around prongs over decades — we recommend 18K only for occasional-wear pieces. All metals are available with matching tennis bracelets.
4-Prong vs Bezel Tennis Necklace Settings
Two main setting styles for tennis necklaces:
- 4-prong tennis necklace — each diamond held in four small metal prongs. Maximum sparkle (more light enters each stone). Most traditional look. Requires periodic prong inspection. ~70% of tennis necklace sales.
- Bezel-set tennis necklace — each diamond held in a continuous metal collar. Slightly less sparkle (less light enters the stone’s pavilion) but maximum security. Sleek modern aesthetic. No snag risk on clothing or hair. Most durable for daily wear. ~25% of sales.
- Half-bezel / illusion-set tennis necklace — open-sided bezel that lets light in from the sides while securing the diamond. Modern compromise between the two. ~5% of sales.
Most clients choose 4-prong for occasion wear and bezel for daily-wear pieces. We hand-set both styles in our Atlanta atelier.
Tennis Choker, 16-Inch, 17-Inch & 18-Inch Lengths
Tennis necklace lengths: 13–15 inch tennis choker sits high on the neck — dramatic, contemporary, became a major trend in 2021–2023. 16 inch tennis necklace sits at the base of the throat (choker effect on most adults). 17 inch tennis necklace falls just below the collarbone — our most-sold length, the universal sweet spot. 18 inch tennis necklace drops slightly lower to the collarbone area. We don’t recommend tennis necklaces longer than 18 inches because the structured ribbon appearance is lost at longer lengths. The necklace should fit snugly — if loose, it rotates around the neck hiding the diamonds. Free sizing within 14 days of purchase.
