The Yacht-Master II is Rolex's most complex sport chronograph: a programmable countdown function built for competitive sailing's pre-start sequence, controlled through the same Ring Command bezel used on the Sky-Dweller. At 44mm it's also one of the largest watches in the current Rolex catalog, offered in steel, steel-and-gold Rolesor, and solid white, yellow, or Everose gold, typically on an Oyster bracelet. Because the complication is specialized and production numbers are comparatively low, it's one of the rarer Rolex models to find in the pre-owned market. The 116680 (steel) and 116681 (Rolesor) are the references most often searched. Even among Rolex sport watches it's an outlier: most buyers never use the countdown function as designed, and own it instead for the mechanical novelty and rarity relative to the rest of the catalog.
