The Datejust is Rolex's original everyday watch and the line most people picture when they hear the name — introduced in 1945 as the first self-winding wristwatch to display the date in a window, magnified by the Cyclops lens Rolex still uses today. It has been produced in more sizes and configurations than almost any other Rolex line: 36mm has been the classic proportion since the 1950s, alongside 31mm and 28mm for smaller wrists, and the two-year 41mm Datejust II (2009–2016) before the current 41mm Datejust took over. Bezels run from a fluted 18k gold surround to a smooth polished bezel depending on era and metal; bracelets split between the five-piece Jubilee, developed specifically for the Datejust, and the three-piece Oyster. References most searched for span the vintage 1601 and 16014 up through the modern two-tone 116233 and current 126334.
