About

About the Seiko Seiko 5

Seiko launched the Seiko 5 line in 1963, with the "5" referring to a set of five standard features the brand built into the watches at the time, including automatic winding and a day-date display. The line became known for putting a reliable automatic movement into an accessible, everyday watch rather than a dress or dive-specific piece, and it has stayed in continuous production since, making it one of the longest-running watch lines from any brand. In recent years Seiko has marketed the current generation under the Seiko 5 Sports name, with a wider range of case styles, dial colors, and strap options than the line's earlier decades.

We disclose condition plainly on every listing: mint, excellent, good or fair, whether the watch ships with its original box, and any service history we know about. A Seiko 5 without its papers isn't necessarily a concern, but we tell you exactly what documentation comes with the specific watch you're looking at before you buy.
