Question 1

What is a diamond ring?

Accepted Answer

A diamond ring is any ring featuring one or more diamonds — natural or lab-grown. The category spans engagement rings, wedding bands, eternity rings, cocktail rings, anniversary rings, stackable diamond bands, right-hand diamond rings, and promise rings. At ATL Luxury Jewelry we carry diamond rings in every carat size from 0.10ct (delicate stackable accents) to 5+ carats (statement cocktail rings), in 14K or 18K gold and platinum. Lab-grown diamond rings cost 50–70% less than equivalent natural diamond rings at the same quality grade — making larger center stones (1ct+) significantly more accessible. Both natural and lab-grown options are available.

Question 2

What is a promise ring?

Accepted Answer

A promise ring is a ring given as a symbol of commitment — a promise to marry in the future, a promise of fidelity, a friendship promise, or a self-promise. Promise rings are NOT engagement rings; they're given earlier in a relationship as a pre-engagement commitment, or for non-engagement promises. Most promise rings are simpler than engagement rings: thin gold bands, delicate solitaire pendants on bands, infinity-symbol designs, eternity bands, claddagh rings, or small diamond accents. Our Snellville store custom-makes promise rings to your design and budget.

Question 3

What's the difference between a promise ring and an engagement ring?

Accepted Answer

A promise ring symbolizes a commitment — typically given pre-engagement, between dating partners, or for non-romantic promises (friendship, sobriety, faith). An engagement ring specifically signifies an intention to marry, usually presented during a proposal. Engagement rings traditionally feature a single prominent center diamond (or substantial center gemstone) and are worn on the left ring finger; promise rings can feature any design, any stone, and are worn on any finger. Promise rings can later be "upgraded" to engagement rings — we offer trade-in credit toward future engagement ring purchases.

Question 4

What is a fashion ring?

Accepted Answer

Fashion rings (sometimes called ‘right-hand rings’ or ‘style rings’) are non-bridal rings designed as standalone jewelry or stack components. They include stackable bands, cocktail rings, signet rings, eternity bands worn outside marriage context, and statement pieces. Fashion rings are the most-purchased category of ring after engagement and wedding — they’re bought for self-gifting, anniversaries, milestones, or simply as wardrobe staples.

Question 5

What is a stackable ring?

Accepted Answer

A stackable ring is a thin band — usually 1–3mm wide — designed to be worn alongside multiple other rings on the same finger. Stack 2–5 bands together for a layered look that’s easy to update over time. Most stackables are plain gold, pavé diamond, or have a single stone station. Mix metals (yellow + white + rose gold) or stay monochromatic. Our showroom carries over 40 stackable styles.

Question 6

What is a cocktail ring?

Accepted Answer

A cocktail ring is a statement ring with an oversized center stone — typically 2ct or larger — designed to be noticed across a room. The style emerged during 1920s Prohibition, when women wore them to glamorous illegal cocktail parties (hence the name). Modern cocktail rings use diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, or large semi-precious stones like aquamarine, morganite, or tourmaline. They’re worn on the right hand to avoid confusion with engagement rings.

Question 7

What is the difference between a signet ring and a class ring?

Accepted Answer

A signet ring is a flat-faced ring traditionally engraved with a family crest, monogram, or initials — historically used to seal documents with wax. Today they’re unisex statement pieces in gold, often passed down as heirlooms. Class rings are a specific type of signet popularized by US universities, with school colors, graduation year, and emblems. We custom-make traditional signet rings in 14k or 18k gold; class rings are not part of our catalog.

Question 8

What metal is best for a fashion ring?

Accepted Answer

14k gold is the most popular choice for fashion rings (about 70% of our sales) — durable, holds engraving and pavé work well, and doesn’t tarnish. 18k gold gives a richer yellow tone but is softer and better for occasional-wear pieces, not daily stack pieces. Platinum is the most durable but 60–80% more expensive than equivalent gold. Sterling silver is affordable for trying a style but will need polishing and eventually thins out with wear.

Question 9

How do I size a fashion ring?

Accepted Answer

Standard US ring sizes run from 3 to 13, in 0.5 increments. Most women fit between sizes 5.5 and 7.5; most men between 9 and 11. Measure ring size in the evening when fingers are slightly swollen (fingers shrink in cold mornings). Stackable bands should be sized identically so they sit flush. Pinky rings size 1–1.5 smaller than ring-finger rings. Resizing is covered by our care plans on qualifying pieces; ask whether yours qualifies.

Question 10

Can I stack different metal colors together?

Accepted Answer

Yes — mixed-metal stacks are one of the most modern fashion-ring trends. A common combination: 14k yellow gold band, 14k white gold pavé diamond band, and 14k rose gold plain band. Alternate the metals or group by color. The key is having at least one common element (diamond accents in all three, or matching widths) to make the stack read intentional rather than mismatched.

Question 11

What is an eternity band?

Accepted Answer

An eternity band is a ring with diamonds set continuously around the entire circumference — no break, no clasp, no plain section. They were historically given on the birth of a first child or major anniversary, but are now a popular standalone or stack component. Full eternity bands (diamonds 360°) cannot be resized; half-eternity bands (diamonds across the front 180°) can be resized.

Question 12

Are statement rings still in style?

Accepted Answer

Yes — statement rings have been growing as a category for a decade, driven by Gen Z and millennial buyers who view jewelry as wearable art rather than only milestone markers. Oversized cocktail rings, sculptural gold designs, and colored gemstone pieces are all trending. Our showroom inventory leans modern: bold silhouettes, mixed materials, and unconventional stone shapes alongside traditional designs.

Question 13

Can I get a custom-designed fashion ring?

Accepted Answer

Yes — our Snellville store custom-makes fashion rings in 14k or 18k gold, platinum, or sterling silver. We’ll source diamonds or colored gemstones to spec, or work with a stone you already own. Turnaround is typically 4 to 6 weeks from CAD approval.

Question 14

Can I see fashion rings in person at your Snellville showroom?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our Snellville showroom carries an extensive fashion ring inventory — over 40 stackable styles, cocktail rings, signet rings, and statement pieces — and we can source specific designs or center stones for you to see in person. Book a private consultation online or call (704) 684-7530. We’re minutes from Atlanta, Lawrenceville, and Stone Mountain.

Question 15

What is a lab-grown diamond ring?

Accepted Answer

A lab-grown diamond ring (also called a lab-created diamond ring, lab-produced diamond ring, or lab-made diamond ring) features diamonds grown in a controlled laboratory environment using high pressure / high temperature (HPHT) or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) processes. Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds — chemically, optically, and physically identical to mined diamonds, and graded to the same 4Cs standards. The only difference is origin. Lab-grown diamond rings cost 50–70% less than natural diamond rings at equivalent grade, making larger center stones significantly more accessible.

Question 16

What is a black diamond ring?

Accepted Answer

A black diamond ring features black diamond center stones — naturally black (fancy black diamonds, very rare and expensive) or color-treated black (the more common, more affordable option). Black diamonds have an opaque, mirror-like surface and pair beautifully with white diamond accents, white gold, and platinum settings. They're popular for men's rings, alternative engagement rings, and statement fashion rings. Our Snellville store sources both natural and treated black diamonds on request.

Question 17

What metals do you offer for gold rings?

Accepted Answer

Every gold ring at ATL Luxury Jewelry is available in: 14K white gold, 14K yellow gold, 14K rose gold, 18K white gold, 18K yellow gold, and 18K rose gold. We also offer platinum rings (the most durable, most precious common ring metal). 14K gold (58.3% pure) is the most popular karat in the US for daily wear; 18K gold (75% pure) offers richer color saturation for heirloom pieces. White gold is rhodium-plated for a bright cool finish; yellow gold is the warmest traditional choice; rose gold (alloyed with copper) has a romantic warm-pink hue. Two-tone and tri-tone gold rings combine multiple colors.

Question 18

What is an eternity ring?

Accepted Answer

An eternity ring is a ring with diamonds or gemstones set continuously around the entire circumference — symbolizing eternal love, lasting commitment, or a milestone. Full eternity bands have stones 360° around (cannot be resized). Half-eternity bands have stones across the front 180° only (can be resized). Eternity rings are traditional gifts for milestone anniversaries (10th, 25th, 50th), the birth of a child, or other major life events. They can also be worn as engagement rings, wedding bands, or standalone fashion rings. We carry diamond eternity rings in 1ct–5ct total weights.

Question 19

What is a birthstone ring or mothers ring?

Accepted Answer

A birthstone ring features the wearer’s birth-month gemstone as the center stone (January garnet, February amethyst, March aquamarine, April diamond, May emerald, June pearl or alexandrite, July ruby, August peridot, September sapphire, October opal or tourmaline, November citrine or topaz, December turquoise or tanzanite). A mothers ring (or mother’s ring) features one birthstone per child — typically 2–6 stones arranged in a row or cluster — making it a popular gift for mothers, grandmothers, and Mother’s Day. We custom-design birthstone rings and mothers rings in any metal and stone configuration.

Question 20

How do I measure my ring size?

Accepted Answer

The most accurate way to measure your ring size: visit a jeweler for professional sizing (free at our Snellville showroom). At home, measure with a flexible measuring tape or strip of paper around your finger at the base, then convert millimeters to US ring size (47mm = size 4, 49.3mm = size 5, 51.9mm = size 6, 54.4mm = size 7, 56.9mm = size 8). Or trace the inside diameter of a ring that fits well and compare to a ring size chart. Standard women’s sizes run 5.5–7.5; men’s 9–11. Measure in the evening (fingers swell slightly during the day). Pinky rings size 1–1.5 smaller than ring-finger rings. Resizing is covered by our care plans on qualifying pieces; ask whether yours qualifies.

Question 21

Do you offer men’s gold rings and men’s diamond rings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our men’s ring collection includes men’s gold rings (signet rings, fashion bands, gold marriage rings, statement pieces), men’s diamond rings (single-stone diamond rings, pavé diamond bands, men’s pinky rings with diamonds), and men’s signet rings (monogram engraving, family crest). All available in 14K gold, 18K gold, white gold, yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum. Men’s rings typically use heavier metal weights (5–8g+) and bolder geometry than women’s pieces — our Snellville store can also custom-make men’s rings in any design and size.
