Understanding This Piece
About Onyx
Onyx is a banded variety of chalcedony, most commonly seen in fine jewelry as solid jet-black (often heat-treated to deepen the color). It's been used in jewelry, signet rings, and cameos for thousands of years and remains a staple of men's fine jewelry. Onyx scores 6.5–7 on Mohs (durable for daily wear) and contrasts strikingly against both yellow gold and platinum. Its even, opaque surface makes it ideal for engraving and inlay work.
About Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with copper for working strength. It offers the brightest white tone of any jewelry metal and the most accessible price point in fine jewelry — typically 5–10% the cost of equivalent gold pieces. Sterling does tarnish over time when exposed to air and skin oils, but the tarnish polishes off easily and we provide complimentary cleaning for life on every sterling silver piece purchased at our Atlanta location.
About Cuff Bracelets
A cuff is a rigid open-ended bracelet that's flexed to slip over the wrist and conforms once worn — distinct from bangles (closed circles) or chain bracelets. Cuffs can feature minimal smooth polished metal, sculptural geometric forms, diamond pavé across the face, or wide statement metalwork. The open construction means cuffs can be sized to fit a range of wrist diameters and adjusted slightly over time. Cuff bracelets are particularly popular in men's fine jewelry.
