Understanding This Piece
About Pearl
Pearls are the only major gemstones produced by living organisms — formed when a mollusk coats an irritant with layers of nacre over months or years. Modern fine-jewelry pearls are typically Akoya (Japan, classic round), South Sea (Australia, large with golden or silver tones), or Tahitian (French Polynesia, dark with peacock overtones). Pearls score just 2.5–4.5 on Mohs and require gentle care: wipe with a damp cloth after wearing, store separately from harder jewelry, and avoid contact with perfume, hairspray, and chlorine. Pearl is the June birthstone and 30th-anniversary gem.
About 14K White Gold
14K white gold mixes 58.3% pure gold with palladium and silver, then receives a rhodium plating that gives it the bright cool-white finish prized for engagement rings and diamond bands. It looks similar to platinum at roughly half the cost. The rhodium plating wears with daily use and typically needs reapplication every 18–24 months — a service we provide free for life on every white gold piece sold at ATL Luxury Jewelers. Underneath the rhodium, 14K white gold has a faint warm undertone.
About Cuff Bracelets
A cuff is a rigid open-ended bracelet that's flexed to slip over the wrist and conforms once worn — distinct from bangles (closed circles) or chain bracelets. Cuffs can feature minimal smooth polished metal, sculptural geometric forms, diamond pavé across the face, or wide statement metalwork. The open construction means cuffs can be sized to fit a range of wrist diameters and adjusted slightly over time. Cuff bracelets are particularly popular in men's fine jewelry.
